Bristol Makes It To Christmas No 1

BRISTOL MAKES IT TO CHRISTMAS NO.1

Bristol has been named as the most popular destination with UK home buyers and renters, having attracted more individual searches than any other city in the country in 2008, according to Email4property.co.uk.

Email4property.co.uk is the largest online network of local estate agents, covering 25,000 locations across the UK. It allows prospective home buyers to search by their chosen town or city, directing visitors straight to local agent websites.

Bristol has established itself as the favoured destination for home searchers out of all the country’s other major cities in 2008*. Over 50,000 individual searches for the year to date, has seen Bristol retain number one spot for a second year running, narrowly beating Liverpool into second place. Sheffield was the third most popular city, followed by Cardiff and then Newcastle.

Steven Lees, Head of Marketing for Email4property.co.uk, comments:
“Bristol has established itself as a favourite destination with home searchers, attracting a greater number of people looking to rent or buy property than any other city.

“It has wide appeal, with two major universities in the locality, convenient travel links into London and a thriving local economy, sustained over the past decade by the many financial and technical industries that are established in the city.

“A lot of young professionals are choosing to move to Bristol to take advantage of the many job opportunities on offer, and many opt to stay on after university. Property prices here have remained affordable in many cases, but they have not fallen as far as many of the larger UK cities during the 2008 downturn.”
